10 Weird Questions with The Vicious Brothers

by Rob Fee

If you’re a fan of horror then you’re probably already familiar with the work of The Vicious Brothers. If you haven’t heard of them yet, don’t worry, you will. Their debut film, Grave Encounters, blew fans aways but the sequel took things to a whole new level. They’re currently working on a new project and took a few minutes out of shooting to answer a few questions for us as well as give some advice to all you aspiring filmmakers.

1. What are you guys doing?

Right now, at this exact second, we are driving to a location that we are shooting at for our next film. It’s going to be sick!

2. Grave Encounters 1 and 2 were fantastic. Is there going to be a Grave Encounters 3?

3. Who are some of your dream actors to work with in a movie?

Steven Seagal! We have heard he is a gem to work with and only shows up for close ups and 2 hours a day. LOVE THAT!  Tom Sizemore because he is in TICKER with Seagal! Best move ever! Rihanna because she is hot and because she has a big entourage and they would be fun to party with.

4. If you could reboot any horror franchise what would it be and why?

The Mighty Ducks! We would recast Coach Bombay  (played initially by Emilio Estevez) with Steven Seagal and we would shoot him out in 4 days…just close ups and then use one of his many doubles for the rest of the scenes whenever there is a wide shot.

5. Can you name some of your favorite movies?

Under Siege, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, Fire Down Below, Hard to Kill, Above the Law. All modern day classics.

When we are not watching Seagal films and studying his work we tend to watch mostly cat videos on YouTube. We’re also really into Songified interviews such as Charles Ramsay’s “Dead Giveaway” and that one with the burger…”Oh my damn.”  Actual answer in no real order:

  • Fight Club
  • Alien
  • Aliens The Thing
  • The Fly

6. What’s the strangest celebrity encounters you’ve ever had?

Stu had a Peeping Tom music video shot in his old apartment by a buddy and Danny DeVito was there chilling all day which was cool. Colin shot a music video for Carly Rae Jepsen just after finishing Grave Encounters 2 and then they shelved it because it was too sexy, that sorta sucked and was strange.

7. Are there any TV shows you’re keeping up with right now?

Recently Colin binge-watched Damages, Dexter, and Walking Dead.

Stu watched 2 seasons of the new 90210 and raved about them.

8. What advice would you give to young filmmakers trying to get started in the industry?

Get a 5d and some still lenses for a few Gs and go make movies with your friends, then go edit them on premier…f**k Apple. Final Cut crashes too often and is no longer a pro editing piece of software. Apple sold out the editor for the prosumer market. If you’re too cheap to use it we suggest Pirate Bay.

9. Who are some of your biggest influences?

Joe Montana, Michael Jordan, Mario Lemieux, Deion Sanders, Diego Maradona

10. What were your favorite halloween costume as a kid?

Ghostbuster / Ninja Turtle.

Or maybe it's the other way around?
