Fear Trumps Resolve in ‘Injustice: Year Two’ Chapter 22

As you know, we’re avowed fans of Injustice: Gods Among Us. This series is so good we wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually got incorporated into the multiverse of continuities that DC Comics is currently mapping. But one thing we’re not a fan of, and that’s heroes killing heroes. C’mon, Superman, how many people have to die because you had a terrible day? You think you’re the only grieving widower out there? Most of them just don’t get to punish the world for not being as perfect as you are.

At least Future’s End Superman has the dignity to retire to the Earth’s core and plow fields like other beaten Supermen before him. You see Kingdom Come Superman taking over the world in the name of peace? Well…yeah, a little bit, actually, but first he goes to the Fortress of Solitude and broods, grows a beard, maybe learns guitar, I don’t know. It looks like there’s just a theme that emerges whenever the Joker manages to kill Lois Lane.

But this is the version of that scenario you want to read, because it has Black Canary going toe-to-toe with the big man, Green Lanterns battling one another, and the shortest fight we’ve ever seen between Shazam and Ganthet. What’s shorter than a one-punch fight? No punches!

RIP Guy Gardner, we’re guessing. We didn’t even get a chance to play you as DLC.

Say it with that puppy dog face and we almost believe you, Kent.

Let’s not get into who brought up or killed whose dead spouse.

Earth’s mightiest mortal vs. the universe’s oldest immortal. Kiddie gets shushed.

That’s why you’re our favorite, Dinah.

This DC Digital First comic is yours for the low, low price of 99 cents.

Brendan McGinley is editor round these parts when not writing comics or Cracked columns. You can say a neighborly hello to him on Twitter @BrendanMcGinley. You’d probably enjoy his supervillain comic Heist, if you’re a fan of tarnished souls and brutal retribution.

Down we go.

Crime pays.

Brendan recently interviewed the Batman Eternal creators about how much fun they’re having and quizzed Gail Simone on what makes for great character moments.
