Tuesdays with Jen Selter

The Instagram celebrity has 1.8m followers and growing, but the cab driver watching her doesn't know that. The only thing he knows is the light just turned green, and he doesn't give a damn. Behind him, another taxi (this one with passengers) toots, but he disregards, and watches her pose on the edge of Madison Square.
Ten minutes earlier, when the light was red, a young man cranes his head out of his car. "Excuse me, no disrespect, but you're perfect. You are. You should know."
Jen Selter has literally stopped traffic.
A cop car rolls up next and the two blues inside pop forward to see what's happening. The cruiser idles, and it's apparent Jen's not going to stop obstructing anytime soon. Selter is the only woman in New York who pulls over the cops. Thankfully, stop and frisk was suspended when we took these photos.

We move underground, where Jen bravely palms the filthy subway platform. Trains roar by, and in ten second-intervals, she's transfixed several hundred New Yorkers.
Subway shenanigans
So you started your Instagram for fitness, but it's obviously blown up in a few directions…
I have different types of followers, obviously: people who get motivated and inspired by pictures, typical creepers, and people who see that I have a large following. Probably 50-60% are following me because I get a lot of shout-outs from fitness accounts, and 30% are creepers or fake people who feel the need to hate.
